On the twenty third day of the month of September,
In an early year of a decade not too long before our own,
The human race suddenly encountered a deadly threat to its very existence.
And this terrifying enemy surfaced,
As such enemies often do,
In the seemingly most innocent and unlikely of places...
Slap Happy North is proud to present
His third piece of original sculpture
The Little Shop of Horrors'
Audrey II here is my favorite piece of my own work up to this point. Constructed from regular Sculpey over wire coat-hanger, a ceramic pot that used to hold a citronella candle (Audrey II smells good, too.), and some Dollar General foliage. Total sculpting time was about three weeks. It was constructed in two sections, the lower maw and the upper pallette, which can still be taken apart.
Audrey II proved to be a little tricky to paint in the beginning. I tried every green I could find for the base coat, and then finally realized why it didn't look right: the plant has a WHITE base. Well, color me stupid. I think I finally got the look I was going for.
Here's Audrey's upper pallette. The last thing the cast of the movie will ever see, at least in the "unhappy" original version of the film.
This would be the top of the pod...
And this would be the lower maw, complete with tongue (which is a seperate piece glued in)
